Before: Weathered and Worn

Fast forward four years, and while the furniture still looked new, the cushions were a different story. I learned the hard way that you should store your cushions in a safe, rodent-free spot over the winter. When I uncovered the furniture a few weeks back, it appeared that the cushions had kept a family of little critters warm in the chilly Iowa winter.

My first thought when I found the shredded cushions was that I'd have to throw out the whole set and start new. Having tried several times unsuccessfully to find replacement cushions for my very old outdoor dining room set, I was disheartened before I even started looking for replacement cushions for the outdoor wicker furniture.

An Easier Solution

Then, I had a lightbulb moment. I wondered if my beloved furniture set was still available (spoiler alert: yes, it is) and whether I could order a new set complete with brand-new cushions. While scrolling down the furniture set's page, I came across something that stopped me in my tracks: I could order replacement cushions for my existing set. Say no more. It was the fastest "add to cart" I've had in a long time. So instead of dropping nearly $1,400 on a new set, I could solve the actual problem and get replacement cushions for a fraction of the cost.

One of the selling points for me was that these cushions were available from the same manufacturer, on the same website, and under the same branding. When I've looked for replacement cushions in the past, they were sold by third-party retailers at big box stores and never fit quite right.

Knowing that my cushions withstood four summers outside, I felt confident that these replacement cushions could hold up just as long, if not longer, now that I'll be storing them indoors during the winter. My original set came in cream, but once I had the option to pick from 10, I wanted to switch it up and do one color on the sofa and a coordinating color on the chairs. I chose light blue for the sofa and navy for the chairs. I'm a Walmart+ member, so I ordered the cushions on the app, and they arrived the next day.

A large, 7' x 10' outdoor rug makes the outdoor space feel just as cozy as my living room. The durable, tapestry-woven rug feels soft underfoot, and its 0.5-inch pile height and flat weave make it ideal for outdoor spaces. The fade- and mildew-resistant, washable outdoor rug is crafted to withstand moisture and sun exposure. If dirt or spills happen, cleanup is easy. Simply rinse it with a garden hose or pressure washer, then air-dry.

After: Fresh and Cozy

With the cushions and a few fun extras now in their rightful place, my deck is officially ready for long summer days for years to come. Just this last weekend, I enjoyed sipping coffee on the couch, snuggled up with my adorable mini schnauzers, while my two boys swiveled around in the chairs. It's moments like this that remind me a home is a feeling, and I'm determined to make mine cozy and comfortable.
