Amazon's Special Promotion
Amazon’s fast shipping is thanks to its drivers, who work hard to deliver your last-minute holiday gifts in a jiffy.
One way you can show your Amazon drivers, in particular, extra thanks is by visiting Amazon’s “Thank Your Driver” page. Available on Amazon’s website or in its app, click the bright yellow button that says “Thank my driver.” This will instantly send your driver a gratitude notification and give them the chance to win Amazon-sponsored prizes.
Each December, Amazon offers a $5 tip to drivers who receive the first two million thanks of the holiday season. Though that promotion ended soon after it began, you shouldn’t stop using the Thank Your Driver page. Every day from now until Dec. 31, Amazon is offering 1,250 drivers with the most “thank you”s a $100 cash prize.
Be sure to thank your driver through Amazon within 14 days of your delivery date. It will automatically send to your most recent Amazon driver, so if you’ve got a lot of holiday packages being delivered, always thank each driver.
Thanking Any Delivery Driver This Season
The official Thank Your Driver promotion is only available to Amazon employees. How can you show delivery drivers from other companies your gratitude? Besides thanking them when they drop off your package at your doorstep, there are a few other ways you can show your appreciation (during the holidays and throughout the rest of the year).
Set Up a Fuel Station
One popular way to thank your delivery drivers is by setting out a stand of travel snacks and drinks. Sealed, store-bought bags of chips, granola bars, candy, and jerky are all good options—you want to choose foods that they can eat quickly with no utensils. You can also offer holiday cookies or nonperishable sweet treats.
Bottles of water and soda are another good option for your drivers. Make sure to bring in all items once delivery services are done for the day, to prevent any unwanted critters from digging into the treats and from drinks freezing overnight.
Other Thoughtful Goodies
Band-Aids, miniature first-aid kits, hand warmers, and hand sanitizer are all small items your delivery drivers might appreciate on the road. Be sure to leave a sign in front of the goodies you're gifting, so delivery drivers know they’re theirs to take.
For the Mail Carrier
Your USPS mail carrier will typically never see your front door, but you can thank them another way. You’re likely visited by the same mail carrier each day, so it’s easy to slip them a thank-you note or a small holiday gift by simply leaving it inside your mailbox. Be sure to clearly label it as being for the mail person. You can also drop off a gift at your local post office, if you prefer.
Keep in mind that, no matter how you choose to thank your driver, it should always be quick and easy. The holidays are the busiest time of year for delivery drivers, and they can spend only a few seconds at each house to meet their quota. And if you happen to catch their fleeting presences, offer them some thanks in person!
