There’s no getting around the fact that doing laundry is a labor-intensive chore. The separating, the lugging, the moving from the washer to the dryer, the folding, the putting away—and by the time that’s all done, it somehow feels like it’s already time to start the process all over again.

A new Tide product aims to make our lives easier, especially when it comes to lugging. The company just announced the launch of Tide evo, a new “fiber-detergent tile” that it says combines scrubbers, pre-treaters, brighteners, and fresheners in one cloth-like, multi-layered “tile,” which is instantly activated by cold water.

How Tide evo Works

Tide evo was clearly developed with simplicity top of mind. The company says the new fiber-detergent tiles feature a half-dozen layers of concentrated cleaning ingredients that activate in cold water to battle stains and odors while also freshening and brightening fabrics—all in one product. 

According to the official press release, the evo tile’s design actually “delivers the most concentrated form of Tide’s advanced cleaning ingredients” of any of its products, so we’re hoping that Tide PODs’ feelings aren’t too hurt by the news of this launch. 

To use it, the company recommends placing one evo tile at the bottom of an empty washing machine before loading it and setting the machine to cold. Then, all that’s left to do is to “watch the magic of the six layers of clean go to work,” per the press release. For larger loads, the company recommends using two tiles.

What Makes Tide evo Unique

Since it’s not a liquid, Tide evo doesn’t need to be stored in a plastic bottle, so you don’t have to carry a large plastic bottle with your basket when it’s laundry time. Because the tiles are pre-measured, you also don’t need to wonder if you’re using enough detergent—or too much—to get the job done.  

Because the tiles are designed to be compact and deliver stain-fighting benefits, you can free up laundry room storage by reducing the number of products you likely won’t need.

As an added bonus, the company touts the new Tide evo tiles as environmentally friendly due to their recyclable packaging and a formulation free of unnecessary fillers and water. The new Tide evo tiles are now available at all major retailers nationwide.
