Why Warm Yellow Is Hot for Spring
"Warm yellow is going to be in trend for Spring 2026 because many homeowners are shifting from quiet, understated palettes to warmer tones that bring more warmth and a feeling of joy," says Jasmin Reese, founder of the Chicago-based Jasmin Reese Interiors.
The designer says yellow brings positivity without compromising on sophistication, which makes it very versatile. Warm yellows work just as well as in a kitchen when paired with a classic blue and white plate wall, as they do in a spa-like bathroom for a positive start to the day. "The yellow hue lands in the sweet spot between playful and polished, which is exactly where design is heading right now," Reese shares.
How and Where to Use Warm Yellow Tones
Reese loves introducing warm yellow into spaces where her clients appreciate both convenience and a touch of delight. "Even the most utilitarian rooms—pantries, laundry suites, back entries—take on a luxurious warmth when wrapped in this hue," the designer says. She explains that the paint color has a way of making these hard-working areas feel like they have been intentionally designed, and as though they, too, are an integral part of the home's curated narrative.
"When paired with distinctive wallpaper, custom cabinetry, or thoughtfully layered textiles, warm yellow becomes a luminous backdrop that elevates the entire environment," Reese shares. For a bolder, more immersive approach in creative spaces, the designer suggests applying warm yellow to walls, trim, and ceilings. "It supports full color drenching in a way that feels inspiring yet still exquisitely refined," she notes.

Colors That Pair Best with Warm Yellow
It's not just selecting the right shade of warm yellow that'll ensure it looks good in your space, it's also about the colors you pair it with. According to Reese, warm yellow feels most fresh when it's grounded with deeper and more complex colors. "Pairing it with rich teals, peacock blues, or olive greens creates a sophisticated contrast that keeps the palette modern and intentional," the designer says.
For added depth, Reese suggests layering a warm yellow tone with a chocolate brown whose elegant earthiness complements the warmth of the yellow. "Warm whites, natural woods, camel tones, patinated brass, and collected antique pieces also harmonize effortlessly with warm yellow, creating a look that feels layered, timeless, and distinctly elevated," Reese adds.
How to Use Warm Yellow As an Accent Color
If you love the idea of bringing in warm yellows to brighten your space for spring, but you don't want to go as far as repainting the walls, use yellow as an accent. Bring in artwork featuring the sunny color, replace sofa throw pillows with ones featuring pops of yellow, or add a warm-toned yellow rug to a room. Instead of using the same shade of yellow throughout these accents, vary their intensity for more depth and dimension.
Pay attention to the materials, too, and create a layered space with yellows in the form of velvet pillows, a hand-woven rug, or glazed pottery. This will create an even distribution of the color throughout the space without it feeling matchy-matchy.
