2. Cafe Curtains: Hung on Their Own or Paired with Roman Shades

Cafe curtains have been a big trend in recent years and Weidenbaum says they're not going anywhere. "Cafe curtains are the perfect blend of design and function, which, when it comes to window treatments, is the ultimate win," she says. They allow lots of natural light in while providing just enough privacy. "There’s a charm and craftsmanship to cafe curtains that feels both nostalgic and intentional, and because they cover less space, you can be more daring with patterns or color –think of them as a small canvas with big impact," Weidenbaum says.

But the expert says she's seeing an interesting twist on how cafe curtains are being installed right now. "Lately, I’m noticing windows featuring multiple treatments rather than the usual drapery and shades, and one trend that’s really gaining popularity is layering a roman shade on the top half of a window with cafe curtains on the bottom half," Weidenbaum says. She notes that the key to making this look work is all in the fabrics. "Lightweight materials, sheers, or playful patterns help the combination feel fresh and modern," she explains. To ensure the pairing feels delicate, airy, and effortlessly elegant, the expert recommends staying away from any fabrics that are too thick or heavy.

3. Statement Drapery

After many years of drapery trends that leaned towards simplicity (think: linen fabrics, neutral colors, and simple hardware), Flynn says the pendulum is swinging back toward drama and detail. "Drapery is becoming a statement piece again, a way to express style and bring warmth and character to a space," Flynn says. Layered fabrics, cornices, trims, tassels, and tie-backs are all classic features that Flynn says are making a comeback and bringing drama back into window treatment design.

4. Outside Mounted Roman Shades

"We will also see a rise in outside mounted Roman shades, a shift from the long-favored inside mount," Flynn shares. If you're wondering how the mounting of roman shades affects their overall look and impact on the room, Flynn puts it this way: "The outside mount roman shades offer a softer, fabric-forward look with the functional benefit of eliminating light gaps around the window trim."

5. Bronze Hardware

Following the longtime popularity of matte black window treatment hardware, Weidenbaum says there has been a clear shift toward bronze finishes. "It reflects a broader move toward warmer palettes and more layered, organic interiors," she says. As for finials, while she says they are not necessarily becoming dressier, clients are being more intentional about their choices. "People are treating hardware like jewelry for the room—small details that complete the look and add a touch of personality," Weidenbaum shares.

6. Natural Woven Shades

Natural woven wood shades have been a staple in homes for years now, and while they are here to stay in 2026, Flynn says the materials and textures are evolving. "Homeowners are leaning away from chunky bamboo and toward more refined, tailored weaves that feel elevated and sophisticated," she says.

"They bring dimension, comfort, and personality to a room while balancing both beauty and functionality," Flynn says. She explains that when you combine sheers, shades, and drapery, it allows you to play with light, texture, and color.
